Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut Shatters 0-400-0 km/h Record With Firmware Update

Deals & Reviews

The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut reaffirmed its reign as the king of speed, recording a blistering 0-400-0 km/h of 25.21 seconds at Sweden’s Örebro airport on August 7, 2025. The hypercar not only bettered its own best of 27.83 seconds but also beat the Rimac Nevera R record of 25.79 seconds, which momentarily stood as the record.

What makes this run most historic is the manner in which it was achieved. Unlike typical record-breaking attempts, where manufacturers release new components or alter aerodynamics, Koenigsegg achieved it through a mere software update. Called “Absolut Overdrive,” the update tuned the Jesko’s gearbox mapping, traction system, and launch control, making the car go faster without modifying any physical component.

Factory driver Markus Lundh produced the perfect run, even in wet conditions left by rain. The Jesko Absolut accelerated to 400 km/h in 16.77 seconds before slowing back down to zero in 8.44 seconds. The overall result was a new world record for a production car in the 0-400-0 test, solidifying Koenigsegg’s position at the pinnacle of hypercar performance.

The complete breakdown of times is just as breathtaking:

0–400 km/h: 16.77 s

400–0 km/h: 8.44 s

0–250–0 mph: 25.67 s

0–250 mph: 17.18 s

250–0 mph: 8.49 s

These numbers show how much of an edge the Jesko Absolut has over most competition. In context, many supercars take longer to go past 200 km/h than the Jesko takes to pass 400 km/h.

The competition with Rimac makes the accomplishment all the more impressive. When the electric Rimac Nevera R broke its 25.79-second record, it marked a new age where battery-powered hypercars could unseat combustion titans. Koenigsegg’s retaliation with the Jesko Absolut not only re-takes the record but further demonstrates that combustion engines — when combined with advanced software — still have a place at the very top of performance.

Christian von Koenigsegg has called the Jesko Absolut the quickest car his company will ever produce, and this achievement makes that assertion more believable. That a jump like this happened through software instead of hardware is testament to how digitally engineered vehicles are just as important now as mechanically innovative vehicles in the world of hypercars.

In less than half a minute, the Jesko Absolut accelerates to speeds rivaling commercial aircraft takeoff and then slams back to zero — all in a car you can, theoretically, buy. With its new record, the Absolut has cemented itself not just as a symbol of extreme speed but also as a showcase of how software can push performance beyond expectations.

For now, at least, the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut is the 0-400-0 king. And if no one else feels brave enough to try and steal it from them, the message is clear: speed is no longer about horsepower — it’s about code.
